In a significant leap from laboratory demonstrations to real-world industrial application, Chinese robotics firm AgiBot has successfully deployed its humanoid robots on a live consumer electronics mass-production line. The deployment, executed in partnership with smart device manufacturer Longcheer Technology, marks what the companies claim is the world’s first large-scale industrial implementation of embodied AI systems within core production workflows for precision manufacturing.
The milestone, announced on April 15, 2026, underscores China’s accelerating transition toward advanced, AI-driven automation. As the country grapples with demographic shifts and seeks to upgrade its manufacturing base, the successful integration of humanoid robots into complex assembly tasks represents a critical step in maintaining its position as the “factory of the world.”

The deployment took place at a Longcheer tablet manufacturing workshop in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. According to reports from Xinhua News Agency, four AgiBot Genie G2 humanoid robots completed an eight-hour live-streamed shift, working alongside human operators on a real assembly line.
The robots were tasked with performing final quality inspections before the tablets rolled off the line. In a constrained workspace, the G2 units utilized integrated visual perception and force control to identify and precisely pick up materials from a moving conveyor belt. They then turned to place the items into testing boxes, segregating any anomalies for human staff to retrieve.

The companies’ performance metrics are compelling. The G2 model completed each operation in 18 to 20 seconds, achieving a throughput of up to 310 units per hour. Crucially, the overall success rate exceeded 99.9 percent during continuous operation. The system also demonstrated remarkable flexibility, requiring as little as five minutes for scene calibration when switching between different product models, with complete line changeover and retraining taking no more than four hours.
The Shift to Embodied Intelligence
“2026 marks the beginning of large-scale deployment for embodied intelligence,” stated Dr. Yao Maoqing, Senior Vice President at AgiBot. “This project demonstrates that embodied AI is no longer experimental. It is a practical, production-ready capability that can operate reliably under real industrial conditions and deliver measurable economic value.”
The rapid integration of the robots—completed in just 4 months from initial planning to mass-production deployment—highlights the maturity of AgiBot’s technology stack. Li Long, General Manager of Longcheer’s Robotics Division, confirmed that the G2 units have already accumulated over 140 hours of continuous operation with downtime loss below 4 percent. Based on this success, Longcheer plans to expand the deployment to 100 units by the third quarter of 2026.

According to Omdia, a London-based tech consultancy, AgiBot achieved annual shipments of over 5,100 units in 2025, securing a 39 percent share of the global humanoid robot market and ranking first worldwide in both shipment volume and market share.
Zhong Junhao, secretary-general of the Shanghai AI Industry Association, noted the strategic advantage this provides. “In the global competitive landscape of embodied AI, China is increasingly demonstrating its advantages by leveraging abundant production line application scenarios and first-mover opportunities in deployment,” he said.
